Actividade dinamizada pelos Professores Jorge Barnet e Tânia Lima, do Grupo das disciplinas Humanísticas e Tecnológicas dos Cursos Profissionais, nomeadamente a disciplina de Inglês e o grupo das disciplinas de área Técnica de Instrumento.
Tem por objectivos sensibilizar os formandos para outros sistemas de ensino na área do Instrumento, divulgar a importância de uma Escola Superior de Música como “Berklee College of Music” no âmbito desta disciplina, abordar diferentes metodologias de ensino seguidas por esta escola e promover uma maior abertura para diferentes contextos de aprendizagem de instrumentos musicais, metodologias de ensino e formação de músicos.
Participantes:
Formandos do 1º, 2º e 3º anos do Curso Profissional de Instrumentista e formandos do 2º ano do Curso Profissional de Intérprete de Dança e dos professores de Instrumento: Elias Ferraiz, Jorge Garcia e Jorge Barnet. Convidado especial José Manuel “Jó Martins” Pereira.
Como complemento deste trabalho será apresentado um slide-show sobre a HISTÓRIA DO JAZZ – feito pelo 2º ANO DO Curso Profissional de Intérprete de Dança Contemporânea: Aldo Pita, Flávia Reis, Nuno Sousa e Tiago Pereira orientado pela Professora Alexandrina Alves da disciplina História da Cultura e das Artes.
Os alunos do 2º ano da Dança irão apresentar uma coreografia de sua autoria tendo como referência “Basie’ s Bag” de George Benson.
‘Before it’s too late!’

Brief Description: The school project ‘Before it’s too late!’ aims to promote different approaches of learning music in order to broaden the students’ perception of Music Education. Jorge Barnet, one of our guitar teachers, will share with us his experience at Berklee College of Music during the 80’s and update the view of what Berklee is today! As for the second year Dance students, they will present us their work on Jazz done in their Art and Culture History classes and perform to us a Jazz dance routine!
Programme
1. Jorge Barnet’s lecture on Berklee College of Music (music teaching techniques, giving practical examples as well brief video clips to illustrate);
2. The second year Dance students, who are Flávia Reis, Nuno Santos, Aldo Pita and Tiago Pereira, will present their work on Jazz;
3. A ‘petit’ concert by the students of the Conservatoire, performing Jorge Barnet’s arrangements for different groups and ensembles of Contemporary Jazz and Contemporary Academic Music, featuring two Jazz songs ‘Timeline’ by Michael Brecker and ‘Basie’s Bag’ by George Benson. There will be other musicians that will perform to support ‘the rhythm section’ (Piano, Bass, Guitar and Drums) in this project, they are: Elias Ferriaz (Bass, CEPAM Acoustic Bass Professor), Jorge Garcia (Drums, CEPAM Percussion Professor) and Jorge Barnet (Soloist guitar and Musical Director, CEPAM guitar teacher). With a special guest, José Manuel ‘Jó Martins’ Pereira (Piano and Keyboards, Professional Musician) who will play the piano.
4. The second year Dance students will perform their dance routine for the Jazz song ‘Basie’s Bag’ by George Benson, arranged and rehearsed in their English classes.
